We are transitioning to a pure holding company structure and taking a new step forward as the Kyuden Group.
Under this structure, each company leverages its strengths while coordinating and collaborating with the others, and together we pursue the creation of greater value across the Group. To that end, we need a shared basis for judgment that reaches across individual companies and businesses.
To put our Group Philosophy into practice and make it the foundation of our entire business, we hereby establish the Kyuden Group Charter of Corporate Behavior.
Guided by the Kyuden Group Philosophy, “Enlighten Our Future,” we have supported our customers' daily lives and industries through a diverse range of businesses, beginning with energy, and we have always stood with our local communities.
Not all of that work is visible. Yet it is the efforts of those who do the hard work on site, those who engage directly with local communities, those who take on new technologies, year after year, that have supported better lives for people, the growth of business, and the development of our local communities.
The world is now at a major turning point.
Our operating environment is growing more complex, shaped by climate change, population decline, natural disasters, geopolitical risk, and technological innovation. The roles and expectations that local communities and society place on us are changing significantly as well. That is why we are committed to continuing to create the value that local communities and society need to thrive, generating both social and economic value, contributing to a sustainable society, and enhancing the corporate value of the Kyuden Group.
To that end, with an unwavering commitment to continuously enhancing nuclear safety, we will remain steadfast in our mission to provide a stable supply of electricity. At the same time, we will venture further into growth businesses such as renewable energy, overseas businesses, ICT services, and urban development, helping to address the challenges facing Japan and the world.
Responsibility for putting this Charter into practice rests with the top management of each Kyuden Group company.
Top management will lead by example in embodying the spirit of this Charter, work to raise awareness and put its principles into practice throughout the Group, and encourage understanding and cooperation among business partners and other companies we work with.
Furthermore, if ever a situation arises that undermines trust in society, top management will take responsibility for investigating the causes, preventing recurrence, and appropriately disclosing information.
Grounded in trust and caring, we will remain open-minded and agile, embrace innovative thinking and challenges, and foster our connections and co-creation with diverse colleagues and local communities.
We hereby set out the “Seven Promises to Enlighten Our Future” and the Action Principles that follow from them to bring these values to life in our daily judgments and actions, and to create a legacy we can be proud of.
Electricity is there when you need it. Behind these quiet, ordinary days lie the sense of mission and the effort of a great many colleagues.
We put safety before everything else, and we protect the stable supply that supports the daily lives and industries of our local communities.
However far technology advances, in the end it is people who sustain society. We believe in our colleagues, work as one, and continue to meet the expectations and earn the trust of our local communities.
Our local communities have supported us, and we have stood by their side.
We value that relationship, listening to what they have to say, responding with care, and creating value together.
Growing together with our local communities and bringing together the strengths of the Kyuden Group, we will contribute to the future of Japan and the wider world, starting with Kyushu.
Trust is built over time.
That is why we approach each piece of work in good faith.
We do more than follow laws and rules: we think constantly about what society expects of us, and we choose the right course of action ourselves.
We also listen to what our customers and local communities tell us, and we continue to fulfill our accountability.
We believe that these efforts, sustained over time, are what build lasting trust.
There are no easy answers on the path to becoming carbon negative.
Even as we maintain a stable supply, we draw on advanced technologies to take on carbon reduction and decarbonization in our power sources and the promotion of electrification.
The difficulty only makes the challenge more worthwhile.
We will become carbon negative, starting with Kyushu.
It is people who drive the company. And it is people who change the future.
We respect diverse personalities and values and create an environment where every person can work in safety and good health and do their best work as themselves.
We support those who take on challenges, learn from failures together, and pass on knowledge and experience to the next generation.
We aim to be an organization that nurtures people’s potential and shares the joy of one another’s growth.
As the times change, so do expectations.
That is why we continue to embrace new challenges and do not fear change: new technologies, new services, new ways of working.
We look beyond energy alone and address a wide range of needs.
We bring together the wisdom and strength of the Kyuden Group to take on challenges with flexible thinking and create new value.
Our work is not just for today.
Its impact will be felt in the lives and communities of tomorrow.
That is why we look beyond short-term results and think and act for the long term.
We will make choices today that future generations will be glad we made, creating lasting value one step at a time.
